Mount Lewis

Mount Lewis, Ansel Adams Wilderness

Mount Lewis (not shown) is located in the Ansel Adams Wilderness on the east side of Yosemite National Park at an elevation of 12,324', although the summit plaque says 12,500'. The peak is named after W.B. Lewis, the superintendent of Yosemite NP from 1916 to 1927. Kind of odd to name a peak outside the park after a Yosemite superintendent. The easiest access to the peak is via the Mono Pass Trailhead to Mono Pass and then cross-country from there.
