James (Tekapo) and I had been planning a four day, 3-peak adventure in Yosemite for the last six months. Our journey was to take us to Mount Dana, Mount Gibbs and Mount Lewis passing numerous backcountry lakes and meadows, finally exiting past Gaylor Lakes.
That was until we spoke to the ranger.
Most of our journey, including overnight stays were in designated day-use areas so we would have to change our plans a bit. No problem. Backpacking is all about being flexible, in more ways than one.
So after a later than expected start and a new first-night destination we were ready to embark on our latest journey together.
