Merced NWR
After my monthly IVIG infusion, I decided to take a short trip to the Merced NWR here in Merced, CA and photograph the wildlife. It's a nice 5 mile car tour with a section where you can park your car and walk (hike) a short .6 mile loop. With my OFF® applied, camera (5D, 300mm and 1.4x), water bottle and my cane I was off…
It was nice to get out again after over 3 years of hospitalizations and setbacks after setbacks.
While hiking, I spotted this "White-tailed Kite" up in the trees. Even with my zoom lens, he was too far away to take a decent photograph. Still, it was my first 'capture' of a Kite, so I was happy.
Had some obstacles to navagate. Since both of my legs (no knees) are now fused straight, meaning no more bending, it was a little challanging.
In no time I was back to the van. The last time I did this it took me an hour and a half do do this, using my walker. This time I did it in 40 minutes.
Back in the van I was able to photograph this Black-necked Stilt from the window.
….and this Sandhill Crane from the window.
…and this White-crowned Sparrow from the window.
Almost to the gate now. I always check to see if 'my' Great Blue Heron is there. He was, so I close with the last photograph….until next time.
